My day with the “Girl Scouts”

 We were at the Lemoore Air Base with the Girl Scouts one of America’s best

organizations for showing young ladies all sorts of general good stuff. When a Girl Scout

does well at a task they are awarded a badge of completion, this is my part three badges

 1. Eating for beauty, 2. Simple Meals, 3. Locavore . I gave a class on the subjects and

 they would be one step closer to three badges.

This event was a family affair with mothers and sisters a nice day and all enjoyed. I am always happy to work towards helping our youth from cooking to facials the best care grows out of the earth.

Easter Pie a tradition of baking, picnics and family

Of Easter Pie and Picnics, our Annual Rite: Family and friends have gathered at ranches, deer clubs, homesteads and  picnic grounds for centuries. For our Family, we come with fresh Easter Pies  and lamb for bbq. Friends bring a myriad of appetizers and dishes to round out the menu. For several years now, we  gather at a beautiful ranch in the Valley, Quinta Fay. Rain or shine, it is a tradition. But first, my family, still the lonely doves as we are only four and hoping the new generation will join us soon, make the Easer Pies and Italian Quiche, our meatless version. Jolene rolls the dough, Joan fills the pies, I crimp the edges and Ricardo, bless him, is the baker of all 50+ pies this year. Join us on a visual tour of our endeavors and family gathering.

Focused on the goal of readiness for the 2012 Fresno Food Expo, our task…to launch our Love & Garlic ‘Spreadables’. We began by designing a product label reflecting our product and artisan style. John, Founder of AdOctane, guided us with expert advice and design. Next in labeling, is the nutrition, ingredient and allergen information. To do this, we had to nail down our recipes. Love Garlic Wine Chocolate

CRU Winery is quite a jazzy place. With a spacious tasting room and grand bar for tasting the many wines offered and a large terrace, CRU is a great place to be.

Wine & Chocolate, the theme for Madera & Fresno Wine Trails, held last weekend just before Valentines Day is huge. Wine lovers from our Valley and beyond trek the Madera & Fresno Wine Trails to enjoy local vintages. We, Love and Garlic, were there to field test our ‘Love & Garlic Spreadables’- Lemon Artichoke Garlic, Fig Walnut and, of course, Roasted Garlic. Our slogan is: Soft cheesy spreadables infused with garlic, herbs, vegetables, dried fruits & nuts…designed for those people that love to get together, taste, compare flavors & have a good time! Seems to me, the minute I have a glass of wine in my hands, I search the area for food pairings.

Our Spreadables were a huge hit. Folks tasted and compared the spreads with each other and with the wines. Everyone took an interest telling us about the many different uses of the spreads, Lemon Garlic Artichoke Spreadable on top of pasta! Roasted Garlic Spreadable on a roll-up with roasted peppers and spinach! Fig Walnut on a Wheat Raisin Bagel! Spreadables are incredible edibles.
